Make play with copyright (video artworks)

This research into the copyright implications of the online exhibit of video art is performed by Kennisland commissioned by Foundation for the Conservation of Contemporary Art (SBMK) and the Dutch Institute for Media Art (NIMk).

During the drafting and writing of the research, the researchers were advised by the members of an advisory committee consisting of: Paulien ’t Hoen (SBMK), Christiane Berndes (Van Abbemuseum and SBMK), Bart Rutten (Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam and SBMK), Gaby Wijers (NIMk and SBMK) and Willemien Diekman (court of Dordrecht and SBMK).

Interviews were conducted as input for the research with six video artists and with fourteen modern art institutes in the Netherlands participating in the ‘Project Conservation Media art Collection Netherlands’.

For a complete overview of the different institutes and video artists who participated in the research into the copyright implications of the online display of video art, see the booklet. Statements and conclusions in this report can of course not be interpreted as statements for the entire video art sector with this relatively small number of interviews. However, the in-depth interviews do reflect a number of trends, challenges and questions that exist in the sector.

Unfortunately, this research and publication is only available in dutch.
